In this post I will talk about two examples of design, both negativly and posativly. Each example is from the general world of design.

| Ventricle Vessel by Eva Milinkovic http://sayhi-todesign.blogspot.com/search/label/handmade |
This "vellel"/vase is by Eve Milinkovic, she's hand blow glass in a wonderful and intriguing aray of colours. Shaped as a heart is only basically dipicted, but its shape and simplicity give it this wonderful sense of movement, you can almost imagine it beating. This would be something that I would place and display in my home, its has a deeper meaning as its all something that relates to us, we all have a heart!
The above image comprises of some of the simplist ideas, by placing (in this picture anyway) letters in a particular way and adjusting them until an image forms is brilliant. It takes you a minute to see that this hasnt been edited, and that it really is as simple (haha) as it looks. It makes you wonder, if you can place something down and get something so beautiful from it, being only a shadow, what would happen if you tried to get a more complicated shape? The possabilities are endless......
And last but not least, These lights/art are designed and made by one of the artists involved in this years "infecting the city" festival in Cape Town, Heath Nash. I love his ability to be able to turn what we perceive as rubbish, items that we throw away without a second thought, and be able to turn them into the most stunningly beautiful lamps. This particular lamp, I just love the colour and his use of shape. It makes you imagine what he could create if he used items not thrown away! Mind blow-inly beautiful!

| Animal Shoes, Iris Schieferstein http://sayhi-todesign.blogspot.com/search/label/passion%20in%20fashion These most unusual "shoes" are designed by a lady called Iris Schieferstein, Known for her crazy sense of fashion, these shoes don't dissapoint. Made from the hooves of animals and even fish, I think these shoes are dis-tasteful and are a bad example of design. My opinion of these is that they are too impractical let alone not appealing to the eye. These shoes were designed to make a statement, not to be practical and with some of her shoes with guns as heels, she almost seems to be sending a hidden message, but because of her confusing design, its hard to udnerstand what that message may be. .......................................................................................................... (Sorry, I just had to show this) If this does'nt illustrate bad design I don't know what will! |
